(This post is huge, but if you have time, i would highly appreciate if you could read through and tell me anything i can add or change to this video plan)
I would like to say a huge thanks to all the Bloggers who mentioned me, i now have quite a few people interested in helping with a video!
I usually like to completely plan a video before i start recording any of it, so i thought i could structure it here. I’m pretty new to RuneScape Blogging, so you guys could all give me feedback on my script and let me know if i should change or add anything to it!
I just hope that i can safely post this here without anyone stealing my idea.
So here is my basic script:
Introduction:
I’ll start off by quickly explaining why i’m making the video and how i started blogging myself
Benefits of Blogging:
- Fun
- Meet other bloggers
- Friendly and interesting community
- Not only have a journal, but have a dotolist and milestone tracker
- You can follow your own format of writing
- Go back and review how you achieved things, even laugh at previous rants
- Motivate yourself, just like making videos, blogging can help keep you focused
- Help others with your advice about the game
Why do others Blog:
I asked the same question to many bloggers, why do you blog?
I got some really interesting and worthwhile answers, here are my favorites:
Zelda3908: “Why do I blog? Well, it’s really because I want to be able to look back on it in several years, more than anything. When I returned to Runescape after my year-long break, I had almost nothing to remind me of how I spent that time. My friends had quit and I’d lost my ties with others. I had next to no screenshots and I’d forgotten what being a newbie was like. I decided to start blogging (after seeing Tim’s blog) so that I’d always be able to remember my rise from your average member to something more special.
I found many friends through doing the whole thing and I really feel that I wouldn’t have gotten so far without the motivation and encouragement I received.”
Piscatoris Blog:
“I fell in love with the fact that behind the stats, skills, quests etc, there are actual people with different political views, religions, cultures, everything, taking part in something. It was all new for me. From there I discovered more and more similar sites, mostly touching on gameplay, but each with a personal feel on it. I guess I just wanted a part of that.”
continued..”I’ve met a lot of interesting, amazing people that I might not have. It’s nice just to have a record of things I’ve done, noticed, figured out or even just how I felt about certain things. It’s something to look back on. Its interesting how we can change as people and players over time and sometimes we don’t even notice it until we look at something we did, say, a year or so ago.”
Meeting Some Famous Bloggers:
I would like to be able to talk or maybe even interview a few well known bloggers about their experiences.
Currently I’ve asked Vaskor and Aximili E I, hoping to meet them both soon.
What to write about:
The great thing about having your own blog, is that it’s your blog!
You can write about anything you please. You can keep the channel strictly RuneScape only or include real life events.
Some example blog types would include:
A serious RuneScaper who only intends on training skills could log their progress. Anything from what levels they achieved to what experience they achieved in that day.
If you are into RuneScape videos, you could feature all your favorite RuneScape videos.
Some Example blogs:
I’ll look through the comments later and pick out some examples
Tips on starting your own blog:
Spend a bit of time on your blog colours and layout. You want a colour scheme easy to read, and a helpful navagation bar with useful links and previous posts
* Try to write about your Runescape experiences and adventures rather than about your levels.
* Read and comment on other Runescape blogs – it is a sure way to find friends and readers.
* Remember that you are not obligated to write every day, or every week. If you don’t feel like writing, don’t.
* Enjoy writing.
What may seem just as an outlet to you, might be insipring or helpful to someone else, regardless of how trivial you think it may be. Much like the game, have fun with it. Don’t make it ‘work.’
Play with your layout
Link to other bloggers and they will link to you.
Put your comments on moderate. Why? Because my blog serves as my RS mailbox too. Friends leave me notes, announce 99 parties etc. Best way to track me down w/o having to share personal details.
Talk about how and why. Focuse less on who what where when.
As for a RS blog, put up screenshots if you can and try writing the post as a story. Merch Gwyar’s blog is a great example.
1. DO use spell check and complete sentences as often as possible. – This makes everyone happy and more interested in what you have to say or wish to discuss.
2. DO find a blog “layout” that works for you. – It’s not always best to just use what others have now… As your blog format should be more suited for how you want others to access information on and around your blog.
3. DO write what is interesting to you. – Nothing is worse then reading something the author is not “enthused” about.
* Also do not stick yourself into a theme of only writing on Subject _ , as this limits your creative freedom and that can never ends well.
Don’t feel pressured into non stop posting, blog at you own pace.
Write about something you love to do or talk about.
Have fun!
Don’t be afraid to try something new, strange, or unexpected you might find it fun(I found those type of things that were funnest things to write on)
General blogging advice would be to say up front whether you’ll be posting sporadically or on a set schedule. I enjoy publishing a post every day and if I don’t, I try to mention why I didn’t
if you’re writing a Runescape blog, then your readers are coming to read about Runescape. My entire life doesn’t revolve around Merch Gwyar, but this blog might make it look like it does. I only write about Runescape related things here. While writing about gaining levels is good for your own record, it might not be all that interesting to other people. Try to think of something that happened that was interesting or funny or exhilarating en route to that level. A better blog might be, ‘I was in Fally Bank and I overheard this player say to another one…. blah blah blah’, then at the end of your story say, ‘Oh and, by the way, I got ‘x’ level in fishing’. That sort of thing.
Above all though, a blog should be fun for you to write. Otherwise, there’s no point in writing it.

Today Jagex released the very dramatic update of RuneTek 5, an improved Game Engine, bringing RuneScape a graphical rework.
I spent today making up a review video. I made the video in around 2 hours, so i didn’t include anything and there are a few mistakes. But i think it went well overall
Yesterday i interviewed Aximili E I. It went really well and now i have the daunting task of finishing the whole Blogging Video!
Today there was a very unusual glitch where some players on Highscores had a total level of 1,377 (this is not possible since with all skills 99 the total level is 1376). This made Gertjaars lose his #1 Spot for a few hours! Here are some screenshots:

This Highscores glitch was soon fixed a few hours later. I found this post from a Jagex Moderator on the Official RuneScape Forums:
